John Swofford Christmas Rings: Let’s Spread the Charms

Delighted to have had my Winterbourne II painting included in this charming collection of Christmas-themed poetry from around the world. The contributions of Kira M. Tjomsland were particularly impressive, as was Dianalee Velie’s Rudolph Contemplates Retirement, the overworked reindeer feeling the crack of too-much-DEI. Absorbing pieces elsewhere by Philip E. Repko and John Swofford. Hope it gets a re-release in time for Christmas 2025!

Sean BW Parker Christmas Rings: Let’s Spread the Charms

Christmas rings: Let’s spread the charms certainly does what it says on the tin, but these are not all ‘typical’ Christmas fare as, although Santa, tinsel and fairy lights are there, so is the cold, loneliness and despair that some people experience while the rest of the world is partying. Decorated with festive photographs and artwork, the book features poems from around the world and, as such, describes the different weather patterns and ways of celebrating that exist at Christmas time. We find out what an ageing Rudolph thinks about possible retirement, what Joseph thought about the nativity, and what it feels like to experience snow for the first time, all amidst a plethora of families and hope. The illustrations are colourful and range from a simple photograph of baubles to modern art depictions of winter, and each poet or artist featured has their own short biography describing their relationship to their craft and where they have been previously published.

Blue Crystal Magazine provides a platform for both acclaimed and budding poets to curate their creative pieces. Being with this digital print for more than two years now, I have witnessed it’s exponential reach in terms of the submissions received from all over the world. The various themes cover an array of subjects testing the artists creative being. Having edited the Issues and made submissions myself, it has further enhanced my creative writing. Now I see the genre with a different lens, where there are no borders between the art and the artist. Enjoy reading poetry and you will surely be inspired to pen your piece..

lue Crystal Literary Magazine has been instrumental for many writers, poets, and artists. When I joined the Editorial Board, I was drawn to its vision that provided opportunities to many novice and experienced writers without any monetary investment. I have edited and have become witness to voices from all over the world. Poetry has enabled many to express and even expose the raw truth and experiences of life. Some beautiful, some poignant and some nervously crafted . As an editor, academic, and poet, I marvel at the multitude of sighs and symphonies entwined with other forms of art, including digital and traditional illusions. We aim to explore and expand more themes and ideologies that need a voice. I proudly say that Blue Crystal’s dream has now become a reality, and I am grateful to be part of this amazing journey.
