Helen Green

Auckland, New Zealand

Helen Green is a budding poet now living in New Zealand. She has
previously had works for roleplaying games and short fiction published
some years ago under a pen name, but has not written other than for
pleasure in some time. This is her first foray into poetry.
Her poems are written from her own life experiences. They often talk of
subjects such as mental illness, sex work, domestic violence, rape and child
abuse. She believes it is important such issues are discussed and awareness
raised. Her work talks of these things quite openly, using strong language
and some may find some her poems disturbing. However her poems also
talk of love, compassion and overcoming such issues.
A pansexual women, Helen was widowed early and has a number of
relationships sine, several of which have been abusive. Her last partner
deliberately destroyed her confidence in her ability to write, leading to the
collapse of her self esteem. As a result, Helen has written nothing for the
past five years. Since escaping that relationship, she has been rebuilding
her confidence and has now resumed writing.
